Last night first class and the school band took part in Féile Ceoil in the Dean Crowe Hall. We sang songs, recited poems and played music. We were very excited and a little nervous, but we really enjoyed it!

Battery Collection

Well done to all the children and parents for collecting 12 boxes of batteries for recycling, in aid of the “Laura Lynn Foundation.” This is a very worthy cause as it helps terminally ill children. Remember, our battery collection is ongoing throughout the year, so keep filling your blue boxes.

Thank You,

Ms Rigney and the Green Committee

Ms Egan’s Senior Infants were very busy making Mother’s Day Paper Flower Bouquets this week. Ms Finn gave this lovely idea to us. They also made Mother’s Day cards. They decorated these cards with Fingerprint Dandelions. Have a look at our photostory! We hope that all of the mothers in Cornafulla have a lovely day on Sunday 26th March!

Lá Glas

We really enjoyed “Lá Glas” today.

Ms  Rigney’s 5th class read a novel as Gaeilge a few weeks ago.

Mrs  Conway wrote a drama based on the book, and we performed it today. It was called  “An nathair agus Na Spéaclaí.” We really enjoyed it! It was great fun.

Each class performed a “cluiche clós” or a “playground game.”

Mr . Glennon : Caith agus Síos

Ms . Dooley : A Gharda , A Gharda

Mr . Keller : Chuaigh Mamó chun an tsiopa

Ms . Egan & Mrs .Finn : Teidí  Béar

Mrs.Dunne :  Ceann, gulalainn, glúin is cos

Mrs. O Connell : Isteach is amach trí na cloginí gorma

Ms . Quigley : Taobh le chéile

Ms. Payne : Míonna na Bliana

Mr . Dolan : Téigh abhaile

                      Míonna na Bliana

Then our school band, “Banna Ceoil “,  played some traditional Irish tunes . They were excellent !

Five girls did some Irish dancing.

We would like to wish you all a very “Happy St . Patricks Day ”

“Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig daoibh go léir”

Slán libh!

St Patrick’s Week

Published by under 1st & 2nd Class

This week the children have been preparing for St Patrick’s Day. In groups, they made posters of the facts they have been learning about St Patrick. They painted the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow which we all decided a trip to Florida would suffice if we ever found it. The children in second class also did some work on persuasive language on topics such as ‘children should have a longer break time in school’. This was a statement we all agreed on and 2nd class had some very convincing points to make.
