ISPCA

Published by under Infants,School News

Ms Finn arranged for the three Infant classes to visit the ISPCA in Keena, Co. Longford last week. Ms O’Connell and her Junior Infants  went there last Thursday 30th March. Some of the Senior Infants went with them. Mrs Fitzgerald went too. Kelly was their tour guide. The rest of the Senior Infants went there on Friday 31st March. Ms Finn, Ms Egan and Ms Browne went with these children. Denise was their tour guide.

All of the children really enjoyed the trip. Kelly and Denise told the children about the appalling conditions the animals were in when they first came to the centre. The animals sometimes have to be treated for eye infections and injuries. Most of the animals are suffering from starvation when they come in. All of the animals get regular check ups and  exercise at the centre .

The children got to hold two lovely puppies. These pups are called Blue and Paddington. Ms Finn nearly brought them home! Families are allowed to come to the ISPCA and bring a dog for a walk. Thanks to the parents for sending in the 6 euro for the trip. This covered the cost of the bus and a small donation for the ISPCA. Take a look at our movie!

Lá Glas

We really enjoyed “Lá Glas” today.

Ms  Rigney’s 5th class read a novel as Gaeilge a few weeks ago.

Mrs  Conway wrote a drama based on the book, and we performed it today. It was called  “An nathair agus Na Spéaclaí.” We really enjoyed it! It was great fun.

Each class performed a “cluiche clós” or a “playground game.”

Mr . Glennon : Caith agus Síos

Ms . Dooley : A Gharda , A Gharda

Mr . Keller : Chuaigh Mamó chun an tsiopa

Ms . Egan & Mrs .Finn : Teidí  Béar

Mrs.Dunne :  Ceann, gulalainn, glúin is cos

Mrs. O Connell : Isteach is amach trí na cloginí gorma

Ms . Quigley : Taobh le chéile

Ms. Payne : Míonna na Bliana

Mr . Dolan : Téigh abhaile

                      Míonna na Bliana

Then our school band, “Banna Ceoil “,  played some traditional Irish tunes . They were excellent !

Five girls did some Irish dancing.

We would like to wish you all a very “Happy St . Patricks Day ”

“Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig daoibh go léir”

Slán libh!

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017

Published by under Infants,School News

Ms Finn’s Senior Infants and Ms Egan’s Senior Infants are practising the skipping rhyme “Teidí Béar” from the new pack “Cluichí Clóis” that Mrs Conway purchased for the school recently. On Thursday, the Senior Infants will sing this rhyme and do the actions for it in front of everybody in the gym. Every Senior Infant will be holding a teddy bear. These are the words of this rhyme.

                              Teidí Béar

“A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, buail an talamh.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, cas timpeall.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, taispeáin do bhróg.

Is leor sin, a Theidí bhig óig.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, rith suas an staighre.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, abair do phaidreacha.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, múch an solas.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, téigh a chodladh.

A Theidí Béar, a Theidí Béar, abair “Oíche mhaith”,

Oíche mhaith agus amach leat.”
