Cornafulla is a mixed school the entire school campus takes up about 5 acres consisting of a newly extended school, beautiful landscaped gardens and extensive playing facilities.
The school first opened in 1843 and was extended in 1983.
Another major extension was completed in 2010
consisting of additional classrooms, a sports hall,
a library and a range of multi-purpose rooms.
We are all delighted with and very proud of our state
of the art new school.
The school implements the Primary School Curriculum 1999. In addition pupils are afforded the opportunity to study a (Modern) European Language – German.
Cornafulla N.S. has a proud sporting tradition and so the promotion of sport is an important part of the characteristic spirit of the school. Pupils are coached in the skills of Gaelic football, soccer, basketball,
tag rugby, cross country, hockey, table tennis, running & swimming.
Pupils are also taken on field trips & nature walks; learn hip-hop and irish dancing, attend science exhibitions and other cultural and educational events during the school year.
The school promotes environmental awareness and is a proud holder of the prestigious European Green Flag Award since 1999 and the Green Home Schools Flag Award since 2010.
We were also awarded an Active School Flag in June 2009 and were delighted to be one of the first ten schools in Ireland to receive this award.
