Best of Luck Liam!!!

Published by under Infants,School News

Today was Liam’s last day working in Cornafulla NS. He gave a box of sweets to every class. Ms Lennon made a lovely cake and buns for Liam and the rest of the staff. There will be a special assembly for Liam on Wednesday 7th June.

The Infants will be gone home for this assembly so we had our own gathering in Ms O’ Connell’s classroom this afternoon. Ms O’ Connell asked the children what work does Liam do. They said he takes care of the school, knocks down the balls for them, cuts the grass, looks after the plants and flowers, fixes things, etc. The children think Liam is busier than the teachers! Ms O’ Connell’s Junior Infants, Ms Finn’s Senior Infants and Ms Egan’s Senior Infants made a special book for Liam. Niamh Lennon presented this book to him. He said that he will read it the next day it is raining!

We all will really miss Liam. He was always so nice to the staff and the children. Liam helped us all at some stage over the years. Best of luck Liam! Thanks for everything!

Obstacle Course

Ms Dooley and the 6th Class students are going to set up an obstacle course/Fun Day tomorrow for all classes to enjoy!! They are asking every child to bring in 1 euro for this. This money is a fundraiser to go towards the 6th Class tour next week. It is a tradition! They set up a trial run from 1 O’ Clock today. The children really enjoyed it! Have a look at our photostory!

Soccer

Published by under Active school flag,Infants

We are very proud of these Senior Infant boys. They were presented with medals at St Joseph’s pitch in Cushla last night. They have been going to soccer training there at 6 O’ Clock every Monday evening for the last few months. They played matches against other teams. They are now finished for the season.

Well done to Lauren Keena for coming second in the High Jump competition at the Community Games recently. She got two lovely medals that weekend. A lot of other pupils in our school competed in different events and did very well at the Community Games.

Scratch Programming 5th class

Over the past 6 weeks we have taken part in computer classes with Ms. Killeen.

We started off learning about Microsoft word and all the features that go with it.

Then we started scratch programming. We really enjoyed designing our own games and Geography quizzes.

We learned how to programme our characters (sprites) and how to make them do different tasks like jumping up and down on a trampoline.

We look forward to learning more about scratch in the future.

By Oisin, Roisin and Ella (Ms.Rigney’s fifth class)

These are some links to our projects which test your geography knowledge… We hope you enjoy them!

Sports Day 2017

We took full advantage of the sun last Monday and had our Sports Day.  It was a  fabulous day and we all really enjoyed it!  Thank you Mrs O’Connell for organizing the day. “It was amazing!”

We took part in novelty races, penalty shoot outs and  hockey. We enjoyed playground games, were creative with construction blocks,  ran through obstacle courses, jumped on bouncy castles and hopped around on space hoppers. The inflatable dragons  were a great hit as we raced each other through the bouncy obstacle courses.  6th Class took on the teachers in a game of soccer and this year after a very tough match the teachers were victorious well done to all!

We also  cooled down with some treats, drinks and ice-creams in the shop ran by our parents association. Thank you to the ladies – it was a real treat!

Have a look at some of our pictures from the day…
