5K Fun Run

Our 5K Fun Run was a great success last Sunday. We had a fabulous turn out and really appreciate so many making the effort to run/walk with us on the day. Thank you also to everyone who sent in sponsorship cards and donations.

We would also like to thank Seán Crehan for providing us with a sound system and a very enjoyable playlist and Declan and Laura McCoy for helping us out with bottled water and a cooler system. Thanks also to  Supervalu in Monksland for their delicious and generous supply of fruit and water.

Many parents also helped us on the day – thank you ! The Order of Malta from Ballinasloe and the Gardaí from Clonark also helped out with Health and Safety.

This is a little movie trailer put together by some sixth class children with  pictures from the day. We hope you enjoy!

Active School Week

Active School Week Newsletter

  • Our annual Active School Week will take place next week from Tuesday June 5th to Friday June 8th This event is run as part of our Active School Flag Award. It encourages children to be active and healthy. This will be a fun, action packed week for the children. Please ensure your child wears tracksuit bottoms/shorts and runners every day.
  • There are a range of activities arranged for the week – Fun Fitness, Healthy Eating, Rinka, Soccer, Obstacle courses and WOW day.
  • WOW (Walk on Wednesday) will take place on Wednesday June 6th (Weather permitting!!). This is in conjunction with our Green Flag also. Junior and Senior Infants will walk around the school grounds. Children from 1st Class up will walk to school from Clann na Gael. Children that travel on the bus will be dropped to Clan na nGael. The bus will bring them to the school first to drop off their school bags. Parents are asked to drop their children to Clann na Gael that morning also. Children can leave their bags at the school before going to Clann na nGael. Parents are very welcome to join in this fun event. As there will be a large number of children walking we are getting assistance from an Garda Siochana to ensure the event runs safely. If you have high visibility jackets please let your child wear them on this walk. Can each child bring an extra piece of fruit so we can have a healthy picnic when the walk is finished.
  • We are also very grateful to everyone who has paid Voluntary Contribution which helps fund fun events like this.
  • We are hoping to have Sports Day on Thursday June 14th. More details to follow later.
  • Check out for fun ideas and activities that can be done as a family in Ireland.

Hopefully the weather will be good next week and all the children enjoy the week

Green flag success

Published by under Green School,School News

We are delighted to announce that our school will be receiving its 10th Green Flag ! Suzanne Dempsey from Roscommon County Council visited our school last week to assess all the work we have done on the theme of Energy and Global Citizenship. She was very impressed by all the work that has been carried out in each class and the knowledge the children have on this theme. We will receive our flag in May and we will have a special flag raising ceremony and celebration. A special thanks to our wonderful Green Committee (aka the Green Machines)  for all their hard work throughout the year. Have a look below at some of the Energy displays/projects from around our school!
