September Fun!

We have been having lots of fun in senior infants and first class since returning to school. We experimented with sounds in science. The balloon experiments were great fun! In maths we practised forming our numbers using marla, sand, lollipop sticks and match sticks. We also made number towers using cubes. We worked together to design and build using our construction toys. Have a look at some of our photos!

A mile a day…

Our class are taking part in a programme called the daily mile. We run, walk or jog every morning for 15 minutes.  As well as keeping us fit and healthy, studies show that this programme promotes concentration, determination and resilience. It also reduces anxiety and stress as well as improving relationships within the class. We are the first class in the school to start the programme but we hope that everyone will be taking part over the coming months. For more information on all the benefits of this programme, check out www.thedailymile.co.uk.

Our Parents Association presented the school with  a beautiful set of jerseys last Friday, four children modeled them for us, they are fabulous and some of the staff were particularly happy to see the maroon and white!

A set of art smocks were also given to the infants, to hopefully save their uniforms from paint splashes! The infant yard received some  new play equipment, a slide, goal, basketball net, skittles and space hoppers. The children were really excited to seem them at lunch break!

A cheque was presented to Mrs. Fitzgerald to go towards enhancing our gym.

Many thanks to the Parents Association for all their help and support  over the last year. It is really appreciated.

The Parents Association are holding their A.G.M.  in the school tomorrow night (Tuesday Sept 12th) at 7:30 pm and welcome all existing and new members.

Last Wednesday we had our graduation mass, it was a very emotional experience. Afterwards we enjoyed a barbeque and it was delicious. We had chips and burgers. After the tasty meal, we had ice-cream. Thanks to Ms Dooley, Ms Killeen, Ms Conway, Mr Nolan and Mrs Fitzgerard that made this possible. Here are some photos of us in 6th class, Cornafulla NS

Moon and Sixpence Puppet Theatre

Published by under Uncategorized

The children and teachers got a lovely surprise when they arrived at school this morning. Mrs Conway had booked Moon and Sixpence Puppet Theatre for the day. Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd Class children went down to the gym and watched a puppet show based on the story Little Red Riding Hood. The children really enjoyed this puppet show. It was very funny! 5th and 6th Class students are gone to watch their show now. 3rd and 4th Class students are gone on their school tour today. Have a look at our photos!
